Travel…..Oh, How I Miss Thee!

I miss traveling sooooooo much. COVID-19 hit and stole all my dreams of traveling to Mexico, Jamaica, and Nigeria this year *cries*. My little family and I have been making the best of this situation and enjoying each other’s company. We get on each other’s nerves too, lol. I am so grateful for traveling to Orlando, FL, back in March to walk across the stage and receive my doctorate in Health Administration from Capella University. I also got a chance to take my daughter Ava to Disney World! This is a big deal for me because my parents have always dreamed of taking my siblings and me to a theme park like that and never got the opportunity to do so. When I was a kid, life was tough, but my parents did all that they could to provide the best life for us. I love them so much for trying their best. I’m thankful for their sacrifices because I got the opportunity to give my daughter a chance to see something that I used to dream of.

Disney World was so magical! We enjoyed the parade and dance performances as soon as we entered the Magic Kingdom. We purchased the “fast pass” before entering the park and skipped the line to meet Mickey. Ava didn’t care too much for Mickey, but she loved Tinkerbelle. The Disney staff were very much in character and put so many smiles on kid’s faces. Especially Ava’s 😊 Next, we ventured off to ride the Winnie the Pooh Ride and soaked in the surprising details of the ride. We listened to a story and witnessed the characters of the story come to life. It was a slow-paced ride, so Ava was safe and could view everything from the comfort of my lap.

We left the park after a 3 hour after the visit and returned for the Once Upon a Time night show. It was beautiful. The Cinderella castle was used as a screen to project scenes from Disney movies. It was a lovely medley of our favorite songs and a spectacular firework display. Ava starred in awe, clapped, and smiled. It filled my heart to see her so happy, and it also served as a motivation to continue to provide her with opportunities that I didn’t get to experience.

Where do you intend to travel when we get through the pandemic? Have you been to Disney World, and do you plan to go back? Let me know in the comments below. Stay safe, Glam Queens, XOXO!
