Wife, Mom, & Boss
Being a wife, mom, and boss never stops for me! Especially not during this quarantine period. I found that now is the best time to get creative, focus, and enjoy self-care. My family and I have chosen to stay safe and at home. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I haven’t had the opportunity to spend so much time with my family, cook almost every meal, and plan out my content schedule. This experience has really been a blessing.
As a wife, I’ve been able to cook, spend a lot of quality time, and workout with my hubby, Jamaar. To be honest, I felt like prior to our coerced staycation, we haven’t spent enough time with each other and were so consumed with our daily routine. We woke up, went to work, tended to Ava, ate dinner while surfing the net, and went to bed. I didn’t like it. I missed us. I missed our random dates and our long conversations. So, that changed after a heart to heart conversation that I had with Jamaar. Now, we really have a chance to implement the changes that we promised that we would work on. So far, so great! We pray, play videogames, watch movies/Netflix series, talk, workout, and just love on each other.
As a mom, I hug, kiss, play, and explore with Ava. I spent five days out of the week, for at least 10+ hours, away from Ava due to work. Although I soaked up the time that I had with her in the evenings, I felt so guilty. I felt like I had waited so long to become a mother and was not spending enough time with her. Nowadays, I get to see her wake up, sing songs, dance, play, see first-time milestones in action, and teach her things that I want her to know. Yes, I’m still working, but hubby and I get to take turns chilling with her while the other is entirely focused on work. There is so much that you can do to keep a child entertained! We go outside for walks or play on the patio, we doodle/paint, we read books, we watch a little educational T.V., explore areas of the house, dance, etc. It’s been so much fun! Lastly, when it comes to boss tinz *Naija accent*, you gotta keep grinding! This is the best time to crank up the creative muscle in your brain and get to work. I’ve managed to create several weeks’ worth of content, launch my website, and plan the next phase of Brilliant Glam Lifestyle. I’m not saying rush and put out something in less than two weeks. I’m saying utilize this time to really plan out what you want to do and be consistent. Watch webinars, research, work on your branding, and communicate with those who will support you. Set enough time aside a day dedicated to your business. Lately, I’ve been waking up at 4 am and struggle to go back to sleep. Guess what? I get up to pray and work on Brilliant Glam Lifestyle tasks. I spend a few hours working and spend the rest of the day with my family or my full-time work as a healthcare project manager.
How are my Glam Queen Mamas doing out there? What are you experiencing? Let’s learn from each other and get through this phase together. Leave a comment below! XOXO!
